lets share: Guest Post by Newly Wed Sunita!

Today we have the lovely newly wed Sunita who is sharing her really sweet story of how she fell in love and married her friend!
Here it goes in Sunita's words :)

" Om Paramar Mainamar ".
Snehil and I have known each other for almost 7.4 years now. As the lines from the movie "When Harry met Sally" goes - When we realize you want to spend the rest of your life with somebody, you want the rest of your life to start as soon as possible. The moment we realized that we wanted to spend the rest of our life's together, we talked to  our parents and the next thing we know, the wedding date was set.

We got married this December( 11th Dec, 2009 - to be precise). And the ride so far has being great. The number of fights have gone down majorly, the love has tripled and the friendship part is still intact  (like the  fevicol ka jhod).

The story of how the girl met the boy or should i say how we met each other :) The story is a typical boy meets girl, they fall in love and get married and they live happily ever after. We met in the second semester of our engineering, my very good friend(Surbhi Kath) played cupid and hooked us together.

The romantic or should I say the ' not so romantic' proposal

WARNING : THERE ARE NO MOON LIT NIGHTS OR CANDLE NIGHT INVOLVED IN THIS STORY.

The better half always sat right behind me in the lectures and we passed chits to talk to each other. During one of these chits passing sessions, he told me about a this girl that he liked in the college, and was afraid of proposing her. He even told him that the girl's name started with 'S', but me being a dumb, didn't take a single hint.
And one fine evening, as we were sitting in the college campus and chatting (sitting on a bench near the covered drains), the boy says "I love you" and I looked up and in a confused state say "Sorry", the boy says "I love you" again and just then his good friend pops up from nowhere and forces and takes us to the college canteen for a cup of coffee. 10 mins later, I head for the college bus with butterflies in my stomach. That evening the boy inquisitively calls to know the current status –
a) MORE THAN FRIENDS OR b) JUST FRIENDS and I reply ‘uhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh’.
The next day, gathered guts, did about 0.5 pushups and  confessed my love for him. What’s the ‘not so romantic’ part  in the whole story – the place what else. I always pull his leg for this. I mean who proposes his then girlfriend and now wife on a bench near the drains. Ewwwww.

But honestly, at the end of the day what matters is the love you confess for each other and not the place or the setting ( The line doesn’t hold true if the proposal was done on a private yacht or on a beach).

What's the best thing that i like about 'the better half' is that he is my best friend. There are few things more rejuvenating than sharing a belly bursting laugh with him. He is being my best pal since college and I intend to keep it that way.  I  wish and hope and pray  that the friendship part doesn’t fade with the years.

In the end : What have you learned so far in the 7.4 years of being together, you really can't change anything or anybody in a relationship. So you either work around that or you accept it. For us this relationship has never being  about compromises, its about acceptance. Acceptance of each other minus the conditions. We both hope that the coming years brings us all the exquisite excitements a marriage should bring, and may life also grant us patience, tolerance, and understanding.

PS : " Om Paramar Mainamar " means we dedicate our union to a greater source.

PPS  : Love you SNEHIL SHARMA because you are the only person in the world, I can be myself with. And because you are the only person(after my ma & sushi) who knows me with all my flaws and still loves me
truly, madly and deeply...

Now isn't that really sweet? I do agree with Sunita that it is really important to accept the other without conditions for a happy marriage...but it is so darn difficult to apply isn't it?
Thank you Sunita for sharing your story with me here...it feels great to share :)

Shri Saif :) and Kareena at the Padma Shri Awards

Uff....I have a serious crush on this couple...don't they just look so amazing together? I love that they co ordinate their clothes for most public appearances.
I love Saif Ali Khan's ivory sherwani with the shirt underneath and gold cuff links..simple elegant royal.
I would have loved to have my husband wear a sherwani for our wedding...i don't know why he didn't...will have to check on that i just a bit :D
Kareena looks ravishing as ever..extremly classy...I would so love to get myself a suit like her's for a day function...

lets share: Guest Post by Blogger and Bride to be Sapphire!

I am super excited to share this space with Sapphire who is sharing with us her indian engagement pictures with us today...yay!!

This is Sapphire's story of loving and keeping her man..here is how it happened by Sapphire..

The How We Met Story:
Two years ago, I went to a Scandinavian party in San Francisco. Being
a Scandinavian party, it was full of Swedes, Norwegians, the
occasional Danes and me, the Indian-American. After feeling like the
lonely duck, an unassuming but very good looking Swede spoke to me.
Three hours later of long conversations, I had butterflies in my
stomach.

Flash forward to Sweden 2010, I am living in Sweden and loving the
cold little country on the North Pole. Okay, possibly not the cold.
The mysterious Swede and I have been together since that fateful day.
In January we celebrated our two year anniversary of meeting since we
could never establish a date when we 'officially started dating.' It
was another horribly cold day in Stockholm so we spent it inside,
enjoying a foot massage and champagne. We eventually went outside to
take a promenade and the whole time I could sense he was nervous. 'Is
he going to ask?' I reflected to myself. He didn't. We arrived home
and went to our favorite Italian restaurant for dinner. But he didn't
say anything then either.

Late that night, we were chatting on the bed. Me getting my foot rub
and hiding under the covers and him, of course giving the foot rub.
When my eyes starting drooping and my brain wandered to fuzzy land, I
heard quietly, "I've been thinking all day on how to do this and I
have to tell you now." And then he proposed. It was a Swedish
engagement; and we were both in our pajamas.

In March, we had a Hindi engagement in India and next year we will
have the wedding there as well. It will be full of colors and chaos.
Now begins the wedding planning...

Awww..don't the two of them look adorable!

Click here for Sapphire's full post about her Swedish Engagement on her blog..

This is a first for my blog and am so excited. Thank you Sapphire for sharing your wonderful moment with us:)
I'd like to wish you all the best for your life and the forthcoming wedding preparations...it is a lot of fun and I know you'll have a great time doing so..
look forward to sharing your wedding pictures here too!

The super emotional Parents!

So how does one comfort the crying parents when you are about to leave with your new husband to embark on this new journey in life called Marriage?

I laughed my way through Vidai and Doli...but my Mom couldn't stop crying and i found it really hard to comfort her. I told her we were going to meet the very next day..and that it is not going to be any different (I lived in a hostel for almost 5 years post school)...but it was all awkward and difficult...

Shagun

Thought I'd share some pics of the Shagun ceremony since I've had a lot of comments and queries on makeup..so this is how I looked on the Shagun day..I kept it simple and was happy with it...I do wish I had a better hairstyle though...but the guy who did mine already had plans of his own...I did point it out that it wasn't the look I wanted...but then he was already midway through it. I just though it wasn't worth it to argue and spoil my mood and everyone else who was around...so smile and all works for you...that i think is the best makeup advice I have received and would like to pass on...Girls smile, let the happiness shine through you and it does wonders for you and your look!

The Wedding Collage !

Here comes the bride...yes that is me :) yay!!
I got my makeup done at Plum, Gurgaon for both the ring ceremony and the wedding and was very happy with the services they provide and totally recommend them. I really am thankful to Monu (junior makeup artist) and Usha (senior makeup artist) for making me look so beautiful on my special day :)!

Here is a little collage I put together to share with you the mood of the wedding...it looked so grand! I was happy with the decoration and how it all came together! We had small candle/rose arrangements on each table. The decor was mainly white red and gold with orange and yellow from the genda phool (marigold) and roses. I was also really happy with the way my saree turned out. Vivek looked like a young prince and slightly overwhelmed with the happenings around him...did I mention we had the worst fog in Delhi in the last 7 years on that very night? Oh what a night it was! It was as if we were floating in clouds...like we had a destination wedding in the mountains...it was so cold and foggy...and all this while I only prayed for no rain on my wedding night..:D. God does listen to me...but is a big prankster I think!

The photographer will have a tough job correcting the pics...a lot of them were spoilt due to the fog..thankfully not all!

Will share some pictures from the mehndi/sangeet and shagun ceremonies here soon...and if you want to catch a glimpse of Bhutan (my honeymoon trip) hop on to my other blog www.kanikabahl.blogspot.com. I will be sharing pictures on that in the next couple of days!

Its great to be back, thanks for reading!

I'm back!

Hello there my dear friends!
Sorry to have kept you waiting all this while for news from me....but here I am now and plan to be more regular from here on.
I arrived in Pune, Maharashtra on the 5th of this month (post my wedding and honeymoon..that's another post with pictures) all excited to set up my new house and make new friends, when two days later our Landlady calls and asks us to vacate the apartment by the end of the month, for she was moving back to the city!
I almost cried.
So we put some of our shopping for the house on hold and started to look for a house to live in all over again.
I am currently living in a beautiful society in Wakad area of Pune called The Woods. It is beautiful...green with a swimming pool and a fully functional club, squash courts, tennis courts...my Husband totally loves it (Husband yayaay I'm married). I like it too but for me it is a little far from the city and to buy every little thing say just eggs....its a 15 minute drive to Aundh area in the city (reasonable area to live in with thriving markets).
So I insisted on seeing some houses in Aundh as well. It is an old area and the building complexes are also old and not as fancy as The Woods. We have also seen an apartment in Aundh which we like..but the complex doesn't have a pool and squash court (that is a downer for my husband).
After a minor argument yesterday my impulsive husband called the broker to fix the deal on the apartment in Aundh. This is our first major project as a couple and I'm glad it happened...we are getting to learn a lot about each other, our likes and dislikes and how we make decisions..what guides us to them...it is important to see the positives in this situation. I just hope the apartment in Aundh proves lucky for both of us and that the whole shifting process is smooth. I hope my husband grows to like it a little more.
So that's that...we will be moving by the 1st week of March.
Hmm so rewinding a little...my wedding ceremony and all the pre and post ceremonies were super fun and went smooth...except for minor glitches like worst fog in Delhi in 7 Yrs on my wedding night...hahahha what a night it was....I'll share it in my next post with some pics for you to see :)
See you soon!

Help with makeup!!

I still haven't taken my appointments with makeup artists for my Shagun and Wedding day which are on consecutive days!
I have found out about two more interesting makeup artists based in Delhi and have heard good things about both!
The first one I want to introduce is Vidya Tikari. She is a well known name in the Bridal makeup segment in delhi and also very popular during the fashion weeks..do check out her website for more info and pictures.
The second artist I wish to introduce is Shalini Vashisht also based out of delhi. Check out her work and website here.

I have also been hearing very good reveiws about Plum which has two three outlets across NCR and thankfully they have one in Gurgaon. I am waiting to see the engagement pictures of my friend who got ready at the Plum GK outlet, i think that'll help me decide better.
So I'm thinking of booking two different places for makeup, one for Shagun and the other for Wedding...do you think this is a good idea or should i just stick to one??

This has got me soooooo confused!!.
Oh and btw, my Mom in law got me beautiful sarees from Calcutta and the one that I am to wear on the Shagun Ceremony is really pretty!!

bridal clutches!!

Hey all!!
How are we?? I know I have been missing from the scene for quite sometime now so apologies for that...Now I am back and I do hope to be more regular...
So did I tell ya'all that I have finalised my wedding outfit?? Yes I have....and its exactly what I wanted and loved it the moment I laid my eyes on it!!

I've chosen to wear a sari and thats all I can tell right now! Why a saree you ask?? Well the lehngas with the kind of work I wanted were really expensive....so is my saree, but I know I'll be able to wear it on more occassions than just one and with the lehnga I'm not so sure of repeat value!
I'd love to know your views on that!
So what else have I been upto??
Well I have been designing my card but still have to figure out all the technicalities of getting it printed. Most of my trousseau shopping is also done so I'm sorting out the time taking things like finishing, matching falls, blouses and petticoats these days.
While on the topic of matching....I have been thinking of accessories like clutch bags etc...and heres what I have found oline so far...
Bag no. 2 and three I think are from this brand called malaga.
You must check out this website, Malaga is a brand by Malini Agarwalla...(I am getting married to an Agarwalla btw...no relation:) I love some of the clutches and I have seen them personally at the bridal Asia fair and some of the collection is absolutely fabulous. Its a pity I haven't been able to find more pictures of this creative lady's collections.
I love the clutch no. 2 above and it matches my outfit perfectly....but tell me...do brides really need a clutch on the wedding day??

Instant Classic Wedding Albums

I met the Instant Classic team when I went to see the Bridal Asia Exhibition that was held in Ashoka Hotel in Delhi recently. They make beautiful coffee table style albums just like the one I want for me but the package that they offer is a little out of my budget. You must check out their website right here... because they are good!
Talking of budgets...I think I'm going a little overboard....but there is still time and vendors to finalise and I'm hoping to get some good deals!

Makeup Artists!!

so I came across two makeup artist websites that I thought I should mention here.
The first one I'm going to introduce to you is Chandani Singh based ofcourse in Delhi...

You may check out her website here

The second makeup artist from Delhi is Shikha Goel and you may find out more about her here

I must get in touch with them and find out more what say?
